Analysis of the causes of black, blue, and white smoke emitted by the engine

2023-06-08

 一. Black smoke-The main factors affecting its generation are:
1. Due to improper maintenance, the air filter is blocked and insufficiently inflated, resulting in incomplete combustion;
2. Improper adjustment of valve clearance, unclean exhaust and insufficient inflation, incomplete combustion; Incorrect valve clearance directly affects the valve timing, which means that the valve is not opened when it is supposed to open and not closed when it is supposed to close, thereby affecting the engine's intake and exhaust flow, reducing the engine's excess air coefficient, causing the engine to have a rich mixture of oil and gas, incomplete and insufficient fuel combustion.
3. Incomplete combustion due to poor compression and mixing;
4. Poor operation of fuel injectors;
5. Excessive fuel supply;
6. The fuel supply advance angle is too small;

二. Blue smoke emitted: oil splashing, oil participating in combustion
1. Severe wear of cylinder liners and piston rings, alignment of piston rings
2. Crankcase ventilation failure;
3. Too much engine oil;
4. Excessive clearance between valve and guide tube;
5. Booster malfunction;
6. The air filter is blocked.
White smoke: White smoke is not smoke, but rather the exhaust gas containing water vapor or oil vapor. When the engine is just started or in a cold state, white smoke from the exhaust pipe is formed due to the low temperature of the engine cylinder and the evaporation of oil vapor, especially in winter. When the engine is running in cold weather, the engine temperature is low, and the exhaust pipe temperature is also low. It is normal for water vapor to condense into water vapor and form white smoke exhaust. If white smoke is still emitted when the engine temperature is normal and the exhaust pipe temperature is also normal, it indicates that the engine is not working properly and can be judged as an engine malfunction.
