Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gasoline And Diesel Engines

2022-01-20

Gasoline engines use gasoline as fuel to convert internal energy into kinetic energy. Because gasoline is viscous and evaporates quickly, gasoline can be injected into the cylinder with a gasoline injection system. After compression reaches a certain temperature and pressure, it is ignited with a spark plug to make the gas expand and do work.

Advantage:
1. The price of the gasoline version is relatively cheap, and the maintenance is very convenient and trouble-free. It is much easier to replace parts on a petrol RV than on a diesel.
2. The speed of gasoline engine is high (currently, the speed of gasoline engine for trucks is generally 3000-4000R/MIN, and the maximum speed of gasoline engine for passenger cars can reach 5000-6000R/MIN), good adaptability, stable and soft operation, convenient and labor-saving operation, high quality Light, low noise, low cost, easy to start, etc., so it is widely used in cars, small and medium-sized trucks and military off-road vehicles.

Shortcoming:
The fuel consumption rate is high, the economy is poor, and the exhaust gas purification index is low. Because gasoline engine vehicles such as cars and passenger cars are often driven in the city, they are often in a stop-start state due to road congestion, and the engine often runs at idling speed, and the temperature is low. Even under normal operating conditions, the temperature and pressure of gasoline engines are lower than that of diesel engines. Therefore, under the working conditions of the gasoline engine, the engine oil is prone to produce low-temperature sludge, so the gasoline engine oil is required to have good low-temperature sludge dispersion.

A diesel engine is an engine that burns diesel for energy release. It was invented by German inventor Rudolf Diesel in 1892. In honor of the inventor, diesel is represented by his surname Diesel, and diesel engines are also called Diesel engines.

Advantage:
1. Long life, economical and durable. The speed of diesel engine is low, the related parts are not easy to age, the wear of parts is less than that of gasoline engine, and the service life is relatively longer. There is no ignition system, and there are few auxiliary electrical appliances, so the failure rate of diesel engine is much lower than that of gasoline engine.
2. High security. Compared with gasoline, it is less volatile, has a higher ignition point, and is not easy to be ignited or exploded by accident, so using diesel is more stable and safer than using gasoline.
3. High torque at low speed. Diesel engines usually get high torque at a small speed, which is better than gasoline engines on complex roads, climbing, and heavy loads. However, it is not as good as the gasoline car in terms of speeding up and high-speed driving on the highway.

Shortcoming:
1. The ignition method of diesel engines is compression ignition. Compared with gasoline vehicles, it does not have a spark plug structure. Sometimes toxic gases are produced due to insufficient oxygen, such as toxic gases such as NOX. air, resulting in pollution. Because of this, diesel vehicles are equipped with urea tanks that can neutralize this toxic gas to prevent it from polluting the atmosphere.
2. The noise of the diesel engine is relatively large, which is caused by its own structure, which affects the riding comfort of passengers. However, with the further advancement of technology, the noise control of diesel engines on mid-to-high-end models is basically similar to that of car engines.
3. When the temperature is low in winter, if the wrong diesel is selected, the oil pipe will freeze, which will cause the diesel engine to work abnormally.
