Causes of damage to the cylinder head gasket

2021-04-22

1. Overheating or knocking occurs when the engine is not working properly, causing ablation and damage to the cylinder head gasket.
2. The assembly of the cylinder gasket is uneven or the assembly direction is wrong, causing damage to the cylinder gasket.
3. When the cylinder head was installed, the assembly was not carried out according to the specified sequence and torque, resulting in the cylinder gasket not being sealed.
4. When the cylinder gasket is installed, dirt is mixed with the cylinder head and cylinder body, which makes the cylinder gasket not tightly sealed and damaged.
5. The quality of the cylinder gasket is poor and the seal is not tight, causing damage.

Diagnosis method

If the engine has "sudden, sudden" abnormal noise and driving weakness, first check whether the engine oil circuit and circuit are normal. When it is determined that the oil circuit and circuit are normal, it can be suspected that the cylinder gasket is damaged and the failure can be detected according to the following steps:
Firstly, determine the cylinders that produce "sudden and sudden" abnormal noise in the engine, and damage to the cylinder head gasket often results in adjacent cylinders not working. If it is determined that the adjacent cylinder is not working, the cylinder pressure of the non-working cylinder can be measured with a cylinder pressure gauge. If the pressures of the adjacent two cylinders are relatively low and very close, it can be determined that the cylinder gasket is damaged or the cylinder head is deformed and damaged.
If you find that the engine joint surface is leaking, the amount of oil increases, the oil contains water, and the coolant in the radiator contains oil splashes or air bubbles, check whether there is water leakage or oil leakage at the joint between the cylinder head and the cylinder gasket. If it happens, the cylinder head gasket is damaged, which leads to leakage.
