How To Solve The Abnormal Noise Caused By The Oil Pump Sprocket Tensioner And Chain Failure?

2021-11-16

The first problem: abnormal noise caused by failure of the oil pump sprocket tensioner

When the engine is idling, there is a "buzzing" resonance in the cab. At this time, you need to raise the car lift, touch the oil pan with a stethoscope, and start the engine to hear a sound from inside. After removing the oil pan, no abnormality was seen. Suspected that the oil baffle was vibrating, the baffle was removed, and the noise still exists after the oil pan is installed. At this time, remove the oil collector so that the oil pump can directly suck oil from the oil pan. The ringing disappeared.

The source of this abnormal noise lies in the oil pump sprocket tensioner and the oil pump sprocket, but the sound heard at this position is not obvious, and the vibration is transmitted to the oil collector.

We need to replace the oil pump chain tensioner, sprocket, and chain before troubleshooting.

The second problem: abnormal noise caused by oil pump chain failure

When the engine is idling, the air conditioner is turned on, and the abnormal noise is made. We removed the air conditioner compressor transmission belt and turned on the air conditioner to reduce the abnormal noise. It is inferred that the compressor has an internal failure. After replacing the compressor, the abnormal noise is retested. still exists. Use a lift to raise the car and touch the front of the oil pan with a stethoscope to hear abnormal noises. There are also slight abnormal noises when the air conditioner is turned on, and the abnormal noise becomes larger after turning on the air conditioner.

The front part of the oil pan is the oil pump chain and sprocket. It is suspected that the oil pump chain is abnormal. When the air conditioner is turned on, the engine load increases, which causes the amplitude to increase, so the abnormal noise increases.

We need to remove the oil pan and find that the chain tensioner spring is relatively soft. After replacing the oil pump sprocket, tensioner and chain, the abnormal noise disappears after turning on the air conditioner again. The fault is eliminated.
